Good deed of the day: Helping someone can serve to help yourself…

January 16th, 2011

Wake up. Brush teeth. Shower. Get dressed. Eat. Drive to work. Sit in traffic. Can anyone relate to these sequence of events? It’s hard to escape this flow and the million other chores we have all been accustomed to do in our daily lifestyle.

One thing that has helped me in somewhat pushing the brakes on a fast paced day is doing an act of kindness for someone else. It could be as simple as allowing another person to pass before me when I am in line to buy something, offering my seat to another person when I am in a waiting room or being courteous to open up a door for another person.

Performing these small acts remind me how fortunate I am to be in a position to do them and it helps to put me back in the moment of all the things that I have yet to do in the day with a renewed and less “stressful” state of mind.

Push on the brakes to your fast paced life…Do something kind for another person today.
